Holy-Uspensky Cathedral

The Holy-Dormition Cathedral is located in Makhachkala at Gromova Street, 7. It is the city's main Orthodox church, becoming a cathedral in 2000. Originally a wooden temple was built for residents of Pyotrovsk-Kavkazsky settlement, later replaced with a stone building on Anji-Arka Hill. The cathedral celebrates its feast day, Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, annually on August 28th. Its architecture stands out among Muslim shrines in the city, enriching the religious landscape of Makhachkala. Today it remains an active center for Orthodox worship services.
