Ali Aliev Wrestler Monument

The monument to wrestler Ali Aliyev was installed in Makhachkala on Magomed Yaraghi Street. The sculpture was created by Dagestani master Ali Magomedov and symbolizes Aliyev's signature technique - scissor-leg throw. The monument was opened in 2017 and is an exact copy of the composition installed in Switzerland. Ali Aliyev won nine times the USSR championships and five times became world champion in freestyle wrestling. The solemn opening took place near the building of the republic's ministry of sports.
