Vvedensky Cathedral

Vvedensky Cathedral in Cheboksary - the oldest Orthodox church in the region founded in 1555 by Archbishop Gury; built from stone and brick in 1651 to replace a wooden cathedral burnt down in 1649; after being closed during Soviet times it was used as an art gallery but services resumed in 1943; the cathedral is an important architectural monument of Chuvashia and cultural center of the city.
