Yuri A. Gagarin Monument in Cheboksary is situated at the intersection of Yuri Gagarin Street and Lenin Avenue. It honors Earth's first cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin. Opened in 1976, it is a regional cultural heritage site. Architect Boris M. Shimarev and sculptor Georgy N. Postnikov were its creators. From the monument begins a boulevard along Gagarin Street.
