Chekhov Monument

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov Monument is located on Lenina Street in Ulan-Ude near the city history museum. The sculpture depicts the writer sitting on a bench with a suitcase, as if just arrived from a long journey. Nearby are inscribed Chekhov's words about Verkhneudinsk ("a nice little town"), reflecting his impressions of staying there in 1890.
