Pokrov Church

Pokrov Church is situated in Ufa at Minganova Street, 4. A stone building was erected in the early 19th century and is one of the oldest stone churches in the city. After being closed in the 1940s it reopened in 1957. The church's distinctive feature is an icon of the Image Not-Made-By-Human-Hands painted by artist Anatoly Lezhnev. The church survived during the mass destruction of Orthodox shrines. Previously there were first wooden temples built as far back as the 16th century on this site.
