monument Salavat Yulayeva

Salavat Yulaev Memorial stands on a high bank of the Belaya River in the center of Ufa, on Square named after him. This is a ten-meter iron sculpture with bronze finish, weighing more than 40 tons, set upon a granite pedestal 4 meters tall. The monument was unveiled in 1967 following nearly thirty years of work by sculptor S. Tovasiev. Considered the largest equestrian statue in Russia and Europe, it appears on the coat of arms of Bashkortostan. From the viewing platform below the sculpture, one can enjoy a scenic view of the Belaya River.
