Salavat Yulayev Monument

The Salavat Yulayev Monument stands on a high bank of the River Belaya in the center of Ufa. It is a ten-meter iron sculpture with a bronze finish, set upon a granite pedestal 4 meters tall. The monument weighs over 40 tons. It was unveiled in 1967 after years of work by sculptor S. Tovasiev. The monument depicts a hero from the Bashkir epic and is among the city's most recognizable landmarks, symbolizing the Republic of Bashkortostan.
