Friendship Monument

The Monument of Friendship is located on a high bank of the Belaya River in Ufa, its height is about 35 meters. The monument was opened in 1965 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Bashkiria's annexation to Russia. The central part of the monument is a coupled stele with a sword sheathed in scabbard, symbolizing peaceful coexistence of nations. At the foot of the monument there are bronze figures of a Bashkirian and Russian woman in traditional costumes, emphasizing the idea of friendship and unity. This is one of the main symbolic places of the city.
