Monument of Friendship

The Monument of Friendship is situated in Ufa on the high bank of the River Belaya. The monument, about 35 meters tall, was unveiled in 1965 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Bashkortostan's annexation to Russia. The central part of the monument is a coupled pillar with a sword sheathed inside, symbolizing peaceful coexistence of nations. At its base there are bronze figures of a Bashkirian woman and a Russian woman in national costumes created by the Leningrad factory "Monument-Sculpture". It is one of the main manifestations of friendship and unity among the peoples of Bashkortostan.
