Astrakhan Regional Museum of Local Lore

The Astrakhan Regional Museum of Local Lore is located at: Astrakhan, Soviet Street, 15. Founded in 1837 upon the initiative of Governor I.S. Timiryazev. After closing in 1862, it reopened in 1897. Since then, its exhibits have been housed in a historical building constructed for city institutions in 1911. Today, the museum is an important branch of Russia's largest regional reserve.
