State Museum of Literature, Art and Culture of Altai (GMILICA)

The State Museum of Literature, Art and Culture History of Altai is located in a historical mansion from the late 19th century at 2 Lev Tolstoy Street, Barnaul. Founded on September 8, 1989, it comprises 13 thematic exhibition halls covering history from ancient Scythian times to the present day. The museum's collection includes over 78,000 items such as personal belongings of famous Altai figures like V.M. Shukshin, N.K. Roerich and G.D. Grebenshchikov, unique theatrical costumes, paintings, furniture, photographs and documents. Special attention is drawn by an exhibit dedicated to Scythian archaeological finds from the region.
