Jebe-Ata Mausoleum

The Mausoleum of Hodja Ahmed Yassaui is located in the historical center of Turkestan city. It is the main monument of the region and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Inside the mausoleum there is Taikazan - an ancient bronze bowl created in 1399. During the Kazakh Khanate period, the complex served as an important spiritual and political center closely linked to the burial places of khans. The construction of the mausoleum began under Amir Timur at the end of the XIV — beginning of the XV centuries over the grave of the famous Sufi poet and preacher Hodja Ahmed Yassaui.
