Otyrar Fortress

Otyrar Fortress is located near Turkestan and represents ruins of a major medieval city that played an important role on the Silk Road. It is famous primarily for its heroic resistance against the Mongol invasion in the early 13th century. Archaeological research here reveals remains of fortification walls, quarters and craft areas, making Otyrar one of the most significant archaeological sites in the region.
