Beket-Ata Underground Mosque

Beket-Ata Underground Mosque is located in Oglanly urals on Usturt plateau near Aktau city. It is one of the most important religious sites in Mangystau region and all Kazakhstan associated with Beket-Ata - famous 18th century Sufi teacher. Every year believers from all over the country come here for pilgrimage and prayers. The mosque was carved directly into rock symbolizing spiritual strength and unity of people.
