Vardzia

Vardzia — unique cave monastery situated near the city of Achaltsikhe in Georgia. It is a large complex hewed directly into the mountainside consisting of numerous rooms, churches and cells connected by labyrinthine corridors. The monastery was founded in the 12th century and served as an important religious and cultural center of the region.
