Old Batumi
Batumi, Adjara, Georgia
Old Batumi is situated between the port and Nuri Lake, bounded by Gogebashvili, Melikishvili and Chavchavadze Streets. European architecture from the early 20th century has been preserved here: buildings in the Art Nouveau style, former consulates and the Apollo cinema. The main axis of the district is Memed Abashidze Street, previously known as Sultan Selim, Comintern, Stalin and Freedom. Among notable places is the Batum Drama Theatre on Rustaveli Street, opened in 1952.
