Europe Square

Europe Square is situated in the center of Old Batumi on Memed Abashidze Avenue. It features a bronze statue of Medea created by David Khmaladze in 2007. The sculpture symbolizes the wealth and cultural heritage of Colchis while holding the golden fleece. The square has been reconstructed to enhance regional tourism infrastructure. Regular concerts, festivals and New Year events take place here. Surrounding buildings date from the 19th to 20th centuries. The central element is the statue of Colchian Medea, with astronomical clocks also installed.
