Skokkvivan
Outlying Islands, Sok Kwu Wan First Street, by the pier
The pier in Sokkwuvan village is situated on Sokkwuvan First Street near the public wharf. It is home to the sole ferry line connecting Hong Kong Island with Colony Ferry to Central. The village is known for Tin Hau temple where there's an antique oarfish effigy caught in 2001; before its altar stand statues of Qianliyan and Shunfen'er assisting Tin Hau to aid those in need. Previously, Lam Ma Tau quarry was operated by Bouygues Construction & Enterprises Audemard; later it was acquired by Shui On. During Japanese occupation, plans were made for establishing a naval base here.
