Outlying Islands, Peng Chau, Peng Lei Road
Ruins of "Big China" Factory are situated on Penchau Island. In 1939 it was founded by Shanghai entrepreneur Liu Hongshan who moved to Hong Kong in 1938. Here matches were produced which were exported to Southeast Asia and America. On the factory's grounds there existed a sand border beyond which employees weren't allowed to go. After closure the production was demolished leaving only ruins which today serve as an historical monument.
