Cheonsha Beach (Upper)
Lantau, Cheung Sha, South Lantau Road
Cheung Sha (Upper) Beach is situated on Lantau Island. It is part of Hong Kong's longest beach spanning 3.2 km, noted for its black magnetite particles amidst soft white sand. Morning runs by young people often take place before swimming here. Tragic incidents occurred previously at this beach: in November 2018, the carcass of a dolphin was found; in June 2015, a woman's body was discovered. The beach also suffered from Typhoon Mary in 1960 when significant amounts of sand were lost. Renting windsurfing and canoe equipment is available right on-site.
