Lantau Peak
Lantau, Ngong Ping, Lantau South Country Park, Lantau Peak summit
Peak Lantau, known as Phoenix Mountain, is Hong Kong's second highest point with an elevation around 934 meters above sea level. Here year-round strong winds blow and fogs occur especially in winter when temperatures can drop below zero. Two peaks of the peak - Funfung and Wunfung - symbolize a pair of phoenixes. The best time for climbing is early morning to see sunrise from the top. The name of the island Lantau originates from its old local designation of the peak.
