Cattle Depot Art Village
Hong Kong, Ma Tau Kok Road, 63
Cattle Depot Art Village is situated in Hong Kong on Mataukok Road, 63. Originally used as a slaughterhouse from 1908 to 1999, it was later transformed into a creative space for artists. Currently, around 15 independent art practitioners operate there; however, living quarters are nonexistent. The village is managed by Guardian Property Management under an agreement with the Government Lands Department. The building faces the street and includes offices, storage rooms, kitchen and restrooms. Despite its cultural significance, access for the public is limited due to lack of fire safety, lighting, evacuation exits and sanitation facilities.
