Great Posad of Polotsk

The Great Posad is situated in the historical center of Polotsk near Nizhne-Pokrovskaya Street. It originated in the 12th century and was part of the unfortified area of the medieval city closely linked to its craft and trading life. Important trade routes passed through the Great Posad connecting the Baltic region with the interior lands of Rus. Today this territory is included in the protected historical complex of modern Polotsk.
