Nesvizh Jesuit Collegium

Nesvizh, historic centre

The Jesuit Collegium of Nesvizh, founded in the late 16th century under the Radziwills, was the second educational and religious center of the order on the territory of Belarus and operated from 1586 to 1773. Upon its establishment, it housed a school theater, a musical boarding school, a pharmacy, a convict for the children of poor nobility, and a parish school, and by the end of its existence, the collegium's library contained about 15,000 volumes. Among its graduates were well-known scientists and writers, including the future Uniate Metropolitan R. Korzak. The historical buildings themselves have not survived, but their location is known: the complex was in Nesvizh near the Farny Church of God's Body, behind the altar part of the temple, and was part of the city's reconstruction in the 16th century.
