Nesvizh Jewish Cemetery
Nesvizh, Jewish Cemetery
The Jewish cemetery of Nesvizh is part of the historical heritage of the local Jewish community and is connected to the centuries-old history of its population. Only a small number of tombstones have been preserved on the territory, and nearby, in the city center, stood an old 16th-century synagogue until the first post-war years. The site is connected to the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War: in 1942, during the liquidation of the ghetto, one of the first armed uprisings of prisoners in Eastern Europe took place. Some of those who died then were reburied nearby, and in 1965 a memorial sign was erected there, which requires careful treatment of the site.
