Bust of Giovanni Yana Maria Bernardoni

A bust of architect Jan Maria Bernardoni is installed on the Alley of Memory in Nesvizh, created by sculptor Sergey Gumilevsky in 1993. Since no lifetime portraits of the master have survived, his image is an artistic representation. Bernardoni, who was of Italian origin, worked in the city for thirteen years at the invitation of Nicholas Christopher Radziwill the Orphan, creating the first Baroque monument in Eastern Europe — the Farny Church. In addition to architecture, the master was fond of astronomy, and his activity brought the spirit of the late Italian Renaissance and the achievements of early Baroque to the West Slavic lands.
