Bust of Nikolai Kristofor Radziwill "the Orphan"
Nesvizh, Pamyati Alley
In the Alley of Memory in Nesvizh, a bust of Nikolai Kristofor Radziwill "the Orphan" is installed, the first Nesvizh ordynate and the initiator of the construction of the stone castle. The prince is depicted in ceremonial attire with a medallion of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre on his chest, which reminds of his pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 1582. According to his will, he was buried modestly in a pilgrim's cloak, and his epitaph was the phrase: "Before the face of death, everyone is not a knight, but only a pilgrim." Radziwill, who converted from Calvinism to Catholicism, actively supported the Counter-Reformation and erected stone monasteries, a town hall, and buildings in the city that have survived to this day.
