Minsk Gates

"The Gates of Minsk" is an architectural ensemble of two symmetrical towers near the Railway Square, built in the post-war years as a ceremonial entrance to the city center. The project manager for the square's reconstruction was architect Boris Rubanenko, and the ensemble is executed in the traditions of Soviet neoclassicism and Stalinist Empire style. The high-rise towers form a visual entrance to Minsk from the railway station side and are one of the city's recognizable symbols. The facades feature the emblems of the BSSR and Soviet symbolism, and large sculptures of workers, soldiers, peasants, and engineers are installed on the towers themselves.
