Church of Saint Alexander Nevsky

The Church of St. Alexander Nevsky in Minsk was solemnly consecrated on February 2, 1898, and previously a small wooden church stood on its site. The temple houses a copy of the 19th-century Minsk Icon of the Mother of God and an icon of the Savior Not Made by Hands, which, according to legend, was painted by Nikolai Ge. Images of the evangelists are located under the main dome, and the Transfiguration of the Lord is depicted in the altar. In the central nave, memorial plaques with the names of 118 soldiers of the 30th Artillery Brigade and the 119th Infantry Kolomna Regiment who died during the capture of Pleven are installed, and behind the altar wall are the burials of senior officers and two mass graves of soldiers.
