Island of Tears

Memorial complex "Island of Courage and Grief" is situated in the historical center of Minsk on an artificial Swisloch island. It is accessed via an arched pedestrian bridge. On the chapel walls there are engraved names of Belarusian military personnel who died while performing their duty. Inside the chapel there are icons and commemorative inscriptions. Symbols of the Afghan war include stones laid out on the island. This place is regularly used for holding memorial ceremonies by veterans of the Afghan war.
