Alexandrovsky Garden

Alexandrovsky Sqare in Minsk regained its historical name in 2009. Here is located the oldest surviving fountain in the city — "Boy with Swan", opened in 1874 to commemorate the launch of Minsk's water supply system. The sculpture was created by Berlin master Theodore Kalide. Previously the area was called Central Square, and previously there was a market on this site. In the square stood Alexander Nevsky Chapel, built in 1869 and abolished in the 1930s.
