New Grodno Castle

New Castle in Grodno - former royal residence situated opposite Old Castle. After the fire of 1944 its post-war facade acquired traits of Stalinist Empire. Currently, the castle houses museum exhibitions on city and palace history including sections on sacred art, weapons and nature. There is also an oblast library and historical-archeological museum here. In 1795, the last Polish king Stanisław August Poniatowski abdicated in this castle.
