August Channel Nevnovo Lock

Gate "Nemnava" is situated near a village with the same name in Grodno district. It is the largest gate on the Belarusian part of Augustow canal. An additional chamber was added to the original gate due to lowering the Neman river level in the 1970s. There is a house-museum there, built for the former gatemaster; its collection began thanks to the initiative of his grandson Tadeusz Urbanyuk. Passage of ships through all chambers usually takes about an hour.
