Freedom Square in Brest

Freedom Square in Brest emerged in the first half of the XIX century under the name Duma or Ratushna. It is surrounded by historical low-rise buildings of the city center and has a triangular shape due to historical roads. Since 1965 there has been a monument on the square commemorating the troops who liberated the city. Previously, there was a building of the city council here, and until 1915 it was the main square in Brest. During the Polish period, it bore the name of Jozef Pilsudski.
