Vladimir Karvat Hero of Belarus Monument

In Brest, at the intersection of Cosmonauts Boulevard and Gogol Street, stands a monument to Vladimir Kharvat — the first Hero of Belarus. It was unveiled on May 5, 2000. A bronze bust of a military pilot, First Class and Colonel, is placed on a tall granite pedestal. Vladimir Kharvat became famous for his heroic act of saving people during an aircraft crash. The monument symbolizes personal courage and heroism of Belarusian military pilots.
