Alexander Griboyedov Monument

In Yerevan, at the intersection of Handzhyana Street and Tigran Mezq Avenue, there stands a monument to Alexander Griboyedov. The sculptors are Ovanes Bezhanyan and Spartak Kntegtsyan. On the pedestal, an inscription reads: "To Alexander Griboyedov from grateful Armenian people." The solemn opening took place on June 14, 1974. The monument reminds us that in October 1827, under the participation of Griboyedov, the comedy "The Misfortune of Wisdom" was first performed.
