Griboedov Monument

The monument to Alexander Sergeyevich Griboedov was installed in Yerevan on the ring boulevard, at the intersection of Khanjyan Street and Tigran Meczets Avenue. The sculpture was created by Ovanes Bejanzyan under the guidance of architect Spartak Kntegtsian. The opening took place on June 14, 1974. The inscription on the pedestal reads: "To Alexander Griboedov from grateful Armenian people." It was here, in Erevan's fortress, with the participation of Griboedov, that the comedy "Misery of Wisdom" was first performed in October 1827.
