Matenadaran

Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, opened in 1959 on Mashtots Avenue in Yerevan, houses over three thousand unique Armenian and foreign manuscripts, miniatures, documents, and ancient books. It features the largest collection of Armenian written heritage and book art. A monument to Mesrop Mashtots, inventor of the Armenian alphabet, is installed at the entrance. This important cultural institution enables a deeper understanding of Armenia's history and culture through its written tradition.
