Tatev Monastery

Tatev Monastery situated near Goris is an historical monument from the 9th century. The complex includes structures dating from the 9th to the 13th century and is perched above the Vayots Dzor gorge surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs and defensive walls. Together with Tatev Hermitage and Vayots Dzor Valley it is included in UNESCO's preliminary list. Here there is an ancient oil mill with stone grindstones. The monastery has mixed category in its UNESCO application submitted on August 25, 1995.
