Iron Fountain

Gyumri, area of former youth palace

Iron Fountain in Gyumri - a metal structure symbolizing the city's resilience after the devastating 1988 earthquake. Designed by architects Arthur Tarkhanyan, Spartak Hachikyan and Grachya Pogosyan, it is a monument of Soviet modernism built in 1982. Despite severe damage around it, the fountain survived and today is perceived as a unique industrial object outside the traditional historical center of the city.
