St. Cross Church in Gyumri
Gyumri, historic centre
Surb Nshan Church in Gyumri's historical center is a 19th-century architectural monument built from local black and reddish tufa. It experienced the peak of Alexandropol and retained features of traditional Armenian church. After the Spitak earthquake in 1988, the temple required restoration. Today it serves as an important part of the old city's cultural heritage and complements the main churches of Vardannatz Square.
