Independence Square

Independence Square in Gyumri is one of the city's main public areas. Previously known as Lenin Square. Here there is a monument commemorating the victims of the Spitak earthquake of 1988. The square is surrounded by buildings of Soviet architecture, including former administrative institutions and educational establishments. It occupies second place among city squares in size and serves as an important public space.
