Vardean Mamikonian Monument

The Varand Mamikonyan Monument is situated on Vardanyan Square in Gyumri. It is a horseback statue created by sculptor Artur Papoyan in 2008 depicting Armenian military leader Varand Mamikonyan during the Battle of Avarayr in 451 AD. The monument has become an important landmark of the square and a central feature of the city's architecture.
