St. Mikhail's Church in Gyumri

Saint Mikhail's Chapel in Gyumri stands on the Russian Military Cemetery "Honor Hill". Built in 1886, it gained the popular name "Plplan jam" for its shiny tin dome. After being closed under Soviet rule in 1920, during the 1980s it housed an Armenian-Russian friendship museum. Damaged by the 1988 earthquake, the chapel was restored in 2010 using local black tufa stone.
