Surb Astarats'akan Church
Sevan, Sevanavank Monastery
Surb Astvatsatun Church at Sevankavank Monastery is one of two remaining churches within the complex. Constructed from dark volcanic tuff, it is associated with Lake Sevan's name through folk etymology. The sanctuary is dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary and constitutes an architectural duo with the monastery on the peninsula. Later, a gavit was appended to the church; its ruins and khachkars remain intact to this day.
