Sevanavank

Sevanavank - a 9th century monastery founded by princess Mariam in 874 on Sevan Peninsula near the western shore of Lake Sevan. The complex originally stood on an island which later became a peninsula due to water level drop. There are two churches here: Surb Arakelots and Surb Astvatsatsin built by Princess Mariam. Sevanavank is an important cultural attraction in the region attracting many visitors.
