Vanavan Monastery

Syunik Province, south of Arczvanist village

The Vanavan Monastery is situated in picturesque canyon near Arczvanist village, in Gegharkunik Province. Founded by Prince Shapuh Bagratuni and his sister Mariam in 903 AD. Compositionally, the monastery comprises Church of Saint Gregory, gavit and single-nave church. This significant historical structure reflects architectural traditions of its time.
