Ayravank Monastery

The monastery of Ayravank is situated on the shores of Lake Sevan, in the village of Ayravank. It stands on a rocky promontory offering picturesque views of the lake and Gegham Mountains. The main part of the complex is Saint Stepanos Church built at the end of the 9th century. Adjacent to it are a porch, khachkars and remains of monastic cells. The monastery functioned until mid-17th century and was restored in 1211 by brothers priests Ovaps and Nerses. Tourists frequently visit the site including it in their tours around Sevan area.
