Saint Shogakatus Church

Saint Shoghakat Church is located in the Vagarshapat city district of Holy Ripsime. Built in 1694 on the site of an ancient chapel, it is part of a UNESCO-listed monument ensemble. The church complements the pilgrimage route between churches of Holy Ripsime, Gaiane and the cathedral. According to legend, its name is linked to the appearance of light at the place of martyrdom of Christian virgins.
