Church of Saint Mary

The Church of Saint Mary in Vagarshapat, built in 1767, is a single-nave basilica without a dome. It is situated in the city center, north of Mother See, standing on the site of an old wooden church from the 16th century. During reconstruction in 1986 under Catholicos Vazgen I, a bell tower was constructed near the entrance. The exterior walls of the temple feature numerous khachkars from the 18th century. Since 2014, the diocese has moved to St. Gregory Narekatsi Church in Armavir.
