Old Patriarchal Residence-Museum

Vagharshapat, premises of the Holy Echmiadzin

The Old Patriarchal Residence-Museum is situated within the historical ensemble of Vagarshapat city, near the Primatial Holy Echmiadzin. The building was constructed under Catholicos Lazar I Dzak'ezi. In 1968 it was transformed into a museum of Catholicoses. Basement areas feature a discovered during restoration brick workshop and an oven for firing. The residence is listed as an official architectural monument of the Echmiadzin complex dated to 1738-1741.
