Residence of Catholicos (Vehаран)

The Residence of Catholicos Veharian is situated in Vagarshapat city near the Primatial Echmiadzin. It was founded in 1910 by architect Gogh Zograbian and built by benefactor Alexander Mantashan. In 1957 it was returned to the Primatial upon request of Catholicos Vazgen I after reconstruction from 1958 to 1962 when the building was adorned with artworks. The solemn opening of the residence took place on September 30, 1962 during the arrival of Catholicos Vazgen I. Reopened following renovations on September 18, 2019.
